Pancreatic Cancer Across Europe: Continuing the Momentum After the 2024 EU Elections

In May 2024, the Position Paper on “Pancreatic Cancer Across Europe” was shared with candidates to the European Parliament, highlighting seven key action points to improve prevention, early detection, research, and treatment for pancreatic cancer across Europe.

Following the establishment of the new EU Parliament, the partner organisations – Pancreatic Cancer Europe (PCE), Cancer Patients Europe (CPE), Digestive Cancers Europe (DiCE), European Pancreatic Club (EPC), and United European Gastroenterology (UEG) came together in November 2024 to welcome the new Members of the European Parliament through a joint video campaign.

Since then, each partner has taken further action to turn the Position Paper’s recommendations into concrete progress. From public awareness initiatives to policy advocacy, research collaborations, and European Parliament events, the pancreatic cancer community has remained committed to ensuring meaningful change.

The partners also continue to advocate for increased EU funding, the development of high-profile centres for pancreatic cancer care, and better access to clinical trials across Europe.

Looking ahead, a series of new initiatives are planned through to 2026, including dedicated awareness campaigns each November, new evidence-based guidelines, postgraduate education programmes, and collaborative webinars such as the upcoming “Clinical Trials for Innovative Pancreatic Cancer Treatments” on 27 November 2025.

This follow-up document summarises the collective progress made and outlines the activities ahead.

Together, we remain committed to transforming pancreatic cancer care and research across Europe.
