Jonathan Baldan Secures 2024 PCE Early Career Investigator Short-term scientific stay award for Pancreatic Cancer Research at CNIO

We are stoked to announce Jonathan Baldan, a postdoctoral researcher at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, as the winner of the 2024 PCE Early Career Investigator short-term scientific stay award! Jonathan will be joining Prof. Francisco Real’s lab at CNIO, Madrid, Spain, to advance research in pancreatic cancer. “Congratulations, Jonathan!”

Jonathan’s Statement:

“I am Jonathan Baldan, a postdoctoral researcher at the Translational Oncology Research Center, under the guidance of Prof. Ilse Rooman, at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Brussels, Belgium. I am deeply honoured to have been selected for the Pancreatic Cancer Europe Early Career Investigator short-term scientific stay award.

This esteemed opportunity will lead me to the laboratory of Prof. Francisco Real, a distinguished figure in pancreatic cancer research at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO) in Madrid, Spain. During my scientific internship, I will focus on conducting vital experiments aimed at unraveling fundamental questions surrounding pancreatic cancer initiation and identifying cells susceptible to cancer development. Beyond these immediate research objectives, this stay holds significance in fostering long-term collaboration between Prof. Real’s lab, Prof. Rooman’s lab, and my own. Moreover, it presents a valuable platform for the exchange of knowledge and cutting-edge technologies utilized in oncology research, particularly in the study of pancreatic cancer utilizing both murine and human models.

I am deeply honoured to embark on this journey and am eagerly anticipating the enriching experiences and collaborative opportunities that lie ahead.”

Stay tuned for our upcoming interview with Jonathan Baldan, where we will delve deeper into his research and future plans.
