Pancreatic cancer is the only cancer with mortality on the rise in both sexes and is currently the 4th largest cause of death by cancer in Europe.
Pancreatic cancer registries are a prerequisite if advances in pancreatic cancer research are to be made and the commitments of Member States to effective cancer control fulfilled. To address this requirement, Pancreatic Cancer Europe (PCE) is working on implementing a European network of pancreatic cancer registries under the umbrella of PancreOS, a long-term project developed over 5 years. PancreOS Project builds upon existing population-based pancreatic cancer registries. It aims to create a network of registries by integrating and reporting summarized data on the disease.
The initiative is supported by Astellas, AstraZeneca and Brystol Myers Squibb, while PCE is in charge of coordinating the activities.
